MPWT Asks US Companies to Invest for Infrastructure

Phnom Penh: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Sun Chanthol has asked the US companies to participate in the bidding for infrastructure construction project in Cambodia. He expressed his request during a virtual meeting held on Wednesday with a delegation from the ASEAN-US Business Council led by its chairman, Ted Osius.

Minister Chanthol says, "So far no US company has bid for the project, not even National Road 4, which the United States built in the 1960s”. He has encouraged the American companies to bid and invest in the development of Cambodia's infrastructure. He has also mentioned the progress of some work and infrastructure construction projects in Cambodia, especially the construction and expansion of National Road No. 7 covering from Skun to Kampong Cham from two to four lanes and the construction of a bridge across the Mekong River, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project, which is scheduled to be completed in December 2022.

Osius has acknowledged Chanthol’s request and pledged to further strengthen private sector cooperation between the two countries. Their meeting was conducted a day after Prime Minister Hun Sen's online meeting with Osius on Monday.
